Bayside
Rowing Club is located in the portlands on the waterfront in Toronto,
Ontario, Canada. Our club serves the youth in our community: the neighbourhoods
of Central and East End Toronto. We offer rowing programmes for everyone
from novice through experienced and competitive rowers with a particular
emphasis on providing opportunities to youth to enjoy the benefits
of sport.
We
want to ensure the future welfare of our community by encouraging
individual achievement.
Bayside R.C. provides the opportunity to train and compete regardless
of ability to pay. The only entry criterion of our club is commitment.
As a community oriented organization, the Bayside
Rowing Club has sought to establish rowing programs that serve the
needs of underprivileged young people. The programs target young
people who, because of socio-economic disadvantages, would not otherwise
have access to this sort of life experience.
The decision to develop such initiatives was
based upon several factors:
1) the Club's commitment to programs which are broad-based and accessible
2) the experience of the Club's leadership in working with young
people
3) the lack of similar programming in the city of Toronto
In
order to ensure the optimal personal benefit of the training programme
and competition, each of our athletes commits to a Code of Conduct.
In the Code of Conduct, Bayside R.C. specifies the expectations
we place on our athletes in terms of lifestyle choices and dedication.
We also outline our commitment to their well-being and development.
The Bayside Rowing Club, through rowing, is making
a difference in the lives of young people. It has achieved national
recognition and is a model of what can be done for young people
at-risk.
We invite you to join us in this important effort. |
